Who We Are

National Puppy Mill Project (NPMP) is a nonprofit organization committed to ending commercial puppy-breeding (puppy mills) and the inhumane treatment of dogs used as breeding stock.  Founded in 2014, NPMP is a growing, nation-wide coalition of independent, grassroots animal welfare organizations and advocates who share a common mission.

Unlike other animal welfare organizations who fight puppy mills as a piece of their agenda, our sole focus is puppy mills.

And, rather than fight this issue alone, duplicate efforts, and compete for limited resources, our strategy is to unite efforts, collaborate and organize for collective power.

Our nation-wide network of animal welfare advocates, independent grassroots organizations and their many volunteers and supporters, enables us to reach out and directly mobilize support for the cause at the local level.

NPMP is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

  • We are the combined strength of these organizations and their many supporters.
  • We are the voice of the dogs suffering in the mills
  • We are driven by our compassion and conscience to act
  • We are a coalition for change

Our Core Beliefs

  • We believe dogs are companion animals, not products, and are entitled to humane treatment, responsible breeding and protection under the law.
  • We believe informed consumers will end the demand for puppy mill puppies.
  • We believe public sentiment will drive demand for better laws that provide all companion animals with humane treatment and responsible breeding.
  • We believe that by working together and leveraging our collective strengths, we have the power to effect positive change.
  • We believe that doing nothing is not an option!

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.  Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."        ~ Margaret Mead
